Girls hockey at EYH

Girls have a home on our ice

Here's the important part: Intro to Hockey is for everyone. Girls skate right alongside the boys from the very first practice — same coaches, same ice, same fun. No one gets left on the bench.

And as your daughter falls for the game, Storm Girls Hockey gives her a dedicated, all-girls team to grow with — from our youngest skaters through 14U — competing in tournaments and jamborees, with coaching built around her development and the same resources as every EYH program.

Intro to Hockey FAQ

Who can register for Intro to Hockey?+
The season is open to students in the DC Everest Area School District, plus kids from any surrounding district that doesn't offer its own youth hockey program. We especially encourage DC Everest families to join.
When and where is it?+
The season runs December through March with two practices a week at the Greenheck Turner Community Center (Greenheck Field House Ice Rink), Weston, WI.
How much does it cost?+
It's completely free. There is no cost to register for the Intro to Hockey season with EYH — the only requirement is a separate (free) USA Hockey membership first (see below). Sign up right here on this page.
Does my child really get free equipment?+
Yes. Through EYH's 100-Bag Program — generously donated by the Scott & Mary Turner Foundation — first-time skaters receive nearly a full bag of gear (helmet, skates, pads, gloves, and a stick), plus a jersey and socks from EYH.
Does my child need any experience?+
None at all. Intro to Hockey is designed for first-time skaters and every ability level. Our coaches meet each kid exactly where they are.
What ages is it for?+
Kids ages 4–8 (birth years 2018–2022) who are new to the game — and it's completely free to join.
How often are practices?+
Two practices a week across the December–March season — enough consistency to build real skills while keeping it fun.
Do we need to register with USA Hockey?+
Yes. All players must complete a (free) USA Hockey membership registration before registering with EYH. It only takes a few minutes.
What comes after Intro to Hockey?+
When your skater is ready for more, EYH offers Mini-Mite 6U, the Winter Season 8U–14U, and Storm Girls Hockey — a full pathway to grow into.
